Dr. Matthew Matta was born and raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. He attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received his B.A. in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in 1999. Dr. Matta then attended Slippery Rock University where he received his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy in 2003. His residency was completed at Healthsouth Harmarville Rehabilitation Hospital and with Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Associates, Inc (OSPTA).
After receiving his degrees he started as a staff physical therapist with Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Associates, Inc (OSPTA). In August, 2005 he took over as Director of Physical Therapy at Steel Valley Physical Therapy where he continues to work. Dr. Matta has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since 2001 and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) since 2006.
Over the past few years, Dr. Matta has become a Level 2 Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute. His expertise involves golf swing analysis and the analysis of the physical limitations that produce improper or altered swing mechanics. Currently, Dr. Matta is working on his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
