After majoring in economics at Colorado College, Dr. Matheny received his medical degree from Penn State University College of Medicine and completed his residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Cleveland Ohio. He then went on to receive fellowship training in Sports Medicine at Yale University where he gained experience taking care of Division I athletes and a professional hockey team. At Yale, he also gained additional training in the latest techniques in arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Dr. Matheny grew up in the North Hills and returned to Pittsburgh with his wife and three children and now live in Upper Saint Clair. Dr. Matheny enjoys skiing, playing hockey and participating in triathlons.
